Group wants Saraki as Senate president

Date: 2015-04-23

A group, the North Central Youth Democratic Vanguard has urged stakeholders in the polity to ensure that former governor of Kwara State, Senator Bukola Saraki, emerges as the next president of their Senate.

President of the coalition, Engr. Kayode Adegbayo, in a chat with Daily Trust correspondent said Senator Saraki's experience in providing leadership at both the national and state levels puts him in good stead to lead the Senate in the next dispensation.

He said Saraki has the capacity to compliment the efforts of General Muhammadu Buhari as president as both of them have come a long way in the effort towards ensuring the government is kept in check to do only what is right for the country.

"Saraki has provided effective leadership for Kwara and we have seen what he was able to achieve in record time when he was governor. He was also the chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum and was able to coordinate the activities of the governors and to stabilise the system.

"So the nation has a lot to tap from his experience, more so as we are moving towards having a new government in place, we need somebody who can complement the efforts of Buhari as a no nonsense personality," he said.
