No governorship candidate endorsed by CAN in Kwara, says Chairman

Date: 2015-02-17

The Kwara chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) said it did not endorsed any governorship candidate in the state for the upcoming elections.

Chairman of the association in the state, Mr Timothy Opoola, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in llorin.

He debunked the rumour that the association had endorsed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Sen. Simeon Ajibola, for the race, saying it was untrue.

Opoola said that the allegation was baseless and a calculated attempt to damage the reputation of the association.

He explained that the association only offered prayer for governorship candidates who approached it.

"The Kwara CAN does not have any anointed governorship candidate as being speculated,’’ he said.

The chairman prayed for the successful conduct of the elections in the state, and for peace to prevail in the country.

Opoola advised Christians in the state to collect their permanent voter cards to enable them elect candidates of their choice. He advised them to shun negative tendencies that could retard the progress of the country.
