Press Release - Victimised SURE-P Beneficiaries: APC hails Saraki's gesture

Date: 2015-02-11

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Kwara State chapter has hailed the senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial district, Senator Bukola Saraki for paying salary arrears of victimised beneficiaries of SURE-P scheme in Kwara State.

In a statement issued on Thursday by its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, the party described Senator Saraki's gesture as uncommon and highly commendable.

"We commend Senator Bukola Saraki for the hands of support he extended to victimised beneficiaries of Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P) in Kwara State by paying up their salary arrears.

"Senator Saraki's gesture is uncommon and highly commendable. Without doubt, this commendable gesture was informed by his genuine love for the people of Kwara State.

"These victimised SURE-P beneficiaries, who are about 2,000, are indigenes of Kwara State whose only offence is their refusal to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) even at the face of intimidation and victimisation from the SURE-P Coordinator in Kwara State, Mr Moses Ibiyemi.

"There is no clearer evidence that the irresponsible administration of President Goodluck Jonathan that has refused to develop Kwara State and her people with its powers, has consistently employed same powers to intimidate and victimise the people of Kwara State under the SURE-P scheme.

"We urge the people of Kwara State to embrace and vote for change on February 14th and February 28th to end the reign of victimisation and intimidation in Nigeria.", the statement read.
