Gov Ahmed seeks support for fallen heroes families
The Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed called on Nigerians to support the families of the fallen heroes physically, morally and financially to enable them live meaningful life.
The Governor, who gave the charge in a message to the thanksgiving service to commemorate Armed Forces Remembrance and Emblem Appeal week held at Saint Mary Catholic Church, Asa Dam Road, Ilorin, said such efforts would strengthen the faith of war veterans who are still alive.
Represented by his deputy, Elder Peter Kisira, Governor Ahmed commended the Fallen Heroes for their patriotism, sacrifices made to guarantee the unity of the country at various times of their national assignments.
The Governor while congratulating the war veterans and members of their families on the joy of the day noted that their sacrifices were not in vain as Nigeria is, and will continue to remain as a stable insoluble and invisible entity.
He urged Nigerians to use the opportunity of the occasion to reflect on the precarious situation in the Northern part of the country and offer fervent prayers for fellow Nigerians facing security challenges particularly in the North Eastern part of Nigeria and other areas.
Governor Ahmed implored government at all levels to explore the possibility of enlisting the services of able bodies' men and wiling war veterans to complement existing machinery to put insurgency at bay.
In his words of exhortation, Reverend Father Ralph Ajewole charged Nigerians to be just and discipline in all endeavours.
Highlights of the service was the special prayers for the Fallen Heroes, their families and the nation at large which was led by the chairmen of Christian Association of Nigeria in the state, Evangelist Timothy Opoola.
