A Magistrate's Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, yesterday ordered the remand of three suspects in prison for allegedly killing one Abdulrasheed Gatta Suleiman.

The accused persons are; Yusuf Gimoh, Yahaya Akeem and Idowu Yakubu.

According to the Police First Information Report, the case was transferred from 'G' Division, Ilorin, to the Department of Criminal Investigation, Ilorin. It stated that on September 17, one Tenim Isiaka Ayinde reported at the station that he received a phone call that his nephew, Abdulrasheed Gatta Suleiman, was shot by unknown gunmen at a football viewing centre belonging to one Shehu Olayiwola.

The prosecutor said: "Police investigation revealed that Yusuf Jimoh (aka) Indomie, Yahaya Akeem Ekundayo and Idowu Yakubu and others who are now at large criminally conspired and shot Abdulrasheed Gatta to death based on the fact that the deceased was a member of a cult that has been challenging the Eiye cult. It was also revealed that the accused persons are notorious members of Eiye confraternity. Items recovered from them include; single and double barrel guns, eight live cartridges, four cutlasses, one dagger, one sharp rod and some charms."

The accused persons who were arraigned over criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide and illegal possession of firearm, pleaded not guilty.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Peter Wodi, urged the court to adjourn the case to another date to enable them gather more information.

In his ruling, Magistrate Wahab Saka said the accused persons should be remanded at the Federal Prison Yard Oke-Kura and adjourned the case to November 5.
