Press Release: Kwara APC Uncovers PDP's Plot to Destabilise Continuous Voter Registration in Kwara
The Kwara State Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has uncovered a plot by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to destabilise the forthcoming Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Kwara State.
The APC also urged the Kwara State Police Command to thoroughly probe the recently uncovered kidnappers' den along Lagos-Ilorin Expressway, Ilorin.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the distribution of Permanent Voters' Cards (PVC) and the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise to hold between July 18 and July 27 in Kwara State.
In a statement issued, Tuesday, by its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, the party said the PDP has perfected plot to destabilise the exercise via coordinated attacks on APC members by PDP thugs, importation of non-Kwaran from neighbouring states to manipulate the scheme and alliance with security agencies to harass APC leaders.
"We wish to alert the INEC, Police Command, Kwarans and Nigerians that presently when all stakeholders including our party, the APC, have joined INEC to promote awareness on the forthcoming CVR exercise in the state, about two factions in Kwara PDP with the support of Abuja politicians have perfectly evil plot to scuttle and destabilise the exercise through coordinated attacks on APC members by PDP thugs, importation of non-kwaran from neighbouring states to manipulate the scheme and alliance with security agencies to harass APC leaders.
"The PDP is jittery that the fate that befell its highly factionalised and fruitless membership registration exercise will be its destiny again, coupled with lack of acceptability within the people of Kwara State who despise the party for its criminal records. This CVR exercise is essential for the sustainability of democracy in Kwara State and Nigeria, so we warn the PDP to desist from this evil plot that has the potency to scuttle democracy.
"We urge the people of Kwara State not to be intimidated by the violent PDP, Kwarans should troop out en masse for the forthcoming exercise as their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) remain their powers to resist plots by the opposition PDP to destroy the peace and unity they enjoy under the APC-led government in Kwara State.
"On the recently uncovered kidnappers' den along Lagos-Ilorin Expressway, Ilorin, the discovery by the Police Command is commendable. We urged the Kwara State Police Command to thoroughly probe the condemnable incidence. The best form of policing is the community policing, we urge the the people of Kwara State to be more vigilant and strange movements in their neighbourhoods should be reported to the Police Command promptly.", the statement read.
