America group provides free healthcare in Kwara
A medical team of the Kwara State Association in North America (KSANG), on Sunday, arrive Ilorin to provide free medical services, including surgery to patients as part of efforts by Kwarans in the diaspora to support government's healthcare services through 500 meters access to quality primary healthcare.
Addressing the team, which comprises pharmacists, consultants and neurologists from the United States of America, during a courtesy visit to Government House in Ilorin, Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed reiterated his administration's commitment to partnering with Non Governmental Organizations across the world to improve access to qualitative healthcare by the people of the state. "It's only through partnership that access to qualitative healthcare could be achieved and sustained, given the capital intensive nature of medical care", Dr Ahmed said.
While assuring the people that the state's community health insurance scheme was being expanded to attain state wide coverage in order to ensure improved access to medical care by the people, the Governor said his administration’s health policy was designed to drive governance through the availability of healthy work force with improved capacity.
The Leader of the KSANG medical team, Mr Wole Adeoye said the team would be in Kwara state for two weeks to provide free medical service and surgery to patients across the state.
Mr Adeoye commended the state governments medical care policy, especially the rehabilitation of five General Hospitals and the expansion of community health insurance scheme to more parts of the state.
