NGO Vows to End Corruption Among Public Officers in Nigeria
According to its President Mr. Adewale Adeyemi, the Nigerian National Good Governance Team, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), it will fight corruption among public officers in the country.
Speaking with newsmen in Ilorin on Wednesday,Mr Adewale Adeyemi, National Chairman of the group, stated that the team would also strive to instil the culture of accountability among public officers in the country.
"We are going to be torch-bearers of transparency and accountability at all levels of government in the country.
"We are going to have access to information as to what comes from the Federal Government to the state.
"We would go to the local government to know how much they receive," he said.
He stated that the team would focus on the nation's public officers in federal, state and local government councils.
The chairman said the team would accomplish the task by using the services of professionals, security agencies and concerned stake holders in sourcing for relevant information.
He stated that the group was non-partisan, non-political and would not witch hunt anybody.
"We are committed to core-values of good democratic practices in which the mass of our people get quality service and value for money," he said.
The chairman, however, appealed to Nigerians to treat the office of the president with the respect and honour it deserves.
