An Ilorin Area Court on Wednesday dissolved the three-year-old marriage between one Yusuf Usman and his wife, Mulikat, over the latter's alleged penchant for lying.

Usman, 44, a resident of Ipata Area of Ilorin, prayed the court to dissolve his marriage to Mulikat, saying she was insincere in the relationship.

"My wife always lies to me just to get favour from me whenever she's in need of money," he said.

The plaintiff cited an instance when his wife travelled to Offa for a birth day party on March 8, but denied this when she came back.

He said their marriage was contracted in 2011 and was yet to produce a child.

"My lord, I want an end to this marriage because I hate liars and unreliable women like my wife," Usman said.

The defendant, however, did not object to the prayer of her husband, saying her husband never trusted her.

"I agree to his divorce prayers because I cannot continue to suffer with a man that never trusts me," she said.

The presiding judge, Mr Yusuf Abdulkareem, dissolved the marriage and issued a certificate of divorce to the plaintiff. (NAN)
