APC condemns PDP over Kwara killings.

Date: 2014-04-09

The Kwara State chapter of All Progressives Congress has condemned the Peoples Democratic Party in the state over what it described as current spate of wanton destruction of lives and property as a result of desperation and greed for political relevance.

Reacting to the reported death of a number of people during the recent ward congress in Ilorin, the Interim State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, said it is disturbing that the PDP has extended its gangsterism to blood-letting and senseless killings in a state known for peace and harmony.

According to Buhari, the fracas, which took place at the PDP secretariat in Sango, Ilorin, between supporters of a former senator and the chairman of a federal commission at Ajikobi Central Ward in Ilorin, has once again brought to the fore the kind of greed and selfishness of members of the PDP in the state.

The statement reads further: “Ordinarily, the APC would not have bordered itself with happenings in the PDP, but because of our concern for innocent people of the state who might be affected by the fracas.”

The APC called on the Kwara State Police Command to probe the senseless killings at the PDP secretariat, with a view to bringing the perpetrators to justice.

It also urged the law enforcement agencies to be at alert because the PDP has vowed to make Kwara State ungovernable.

The APC commiserated with the families of the deceased and called for compensation by the PDP to ameliorate their sufferings.
