For allegedly lodging and feeding himself at Peak Hotel, Ilorin for six days, accumulating a wage bill of N37,150, a 'contractor', Adekunle Adetunji, 40, has been sentenced to four years imprisonment by an Ilorin Magistrates' Court.

The accused was dragged to court on a three-count charge of false impersonation, forgery and cheating, contrary to Sections 179, 364 and 324 of the Penal Code Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

According to the police First Information Report (FIR), the complainant, Ayotunde Raphael, the proprietor of Peak Motel, on March 27, entertained the accused who was brought to his hotel by the manager of A-Z Hotel, Ilorin.

The accused allegedly introduced himself as an engineer with Holland Construction Company, based in Lagos, which is handling the reconstruction of the Jebba-Mokwa road.

The FIR described the accused as a notorious fraudster who deceived the manager of both hotels by fraudulently checking into their hotels and also looking for accommodation.

"He deceived Fatoyinbo Oluwole, Babatunde Ajayi and Fatoki Taiwo with false promises of employing them in his company if they assist in locating hotels where his staff will lodge for the duration of the contract," the FIR read in part.
