KWASU clears air on students' registration
The authorities of the Kwara State University (KWASU) has said that students who paid their tuition after the closure of registration will not be registered for this semester.
It therefore called on the affected students to either come for the refund of their money today or have it transferred to the next academic semester as tuition.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Director of the University's Relations, Dr. Isiaka Aliagan.
The statement said that the students had been given ample time for the registration exercise by extending the registration four times after the first closure to enable the students register.
Parts of the statement read: "For the avoidance of doubt, for an academic semester that began in middle of January 2012, the vice chancellor magnanimously reopened, the registration portal on the following dates 10th February, 2012, 24th February 2012, 19th March, 2012 and 26th March, 2012, to enable students who could not register to do so.
"In spite of this grace, some students still did not register and have waited till barely one week to examination to begin re.gi strati on process.
"Senate of Kwara State University is strict on matters of registration and has directed closure of registration after the last extension. This is to gfiide against conflicting reports on students' registration status, as some students names were not captured in the registration portal last semester because either they did not register or they waited till the portal was closed before making an attempt to register.
"Students who paid tuition to the banks after the closure of registration exercise and have therefore not registered for courses this semester can either collect their full and complete refund from the bursar or have their money transferred to the next academic semester as tuition. Refund begins immediately on Wednesday May 2, 2012.
The statement added that only duly registered students for the rain semester 2011-2012 would be allowed to write examinations, which begins on May 5, warning all unregistered students to keep off classes and the entire university environment, just as it assured of its commitment to upholding the standard of the university, seeking for the support of the parents and stakeholders in achieving this.
