Kwara expends N4bn on Aviation College

Date: 2013-12-11

Kwara State government says it has expended over N4 billion on the International Aviation College (IAC) since its commencement in 2012.

The acting rector of the college, Captain Abdulkareem Abdulmumeen, who disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Ilorin, said the college has graduated eight pilots within a record time of 15 months instead of 18 months earlier advertised.

All the graduating students had been gainfully employed, he added.

"Three were employed by the college, Overland and Top Brass Airlines employed two each while Shell International employed one who is said to be currently in America doing Helicopter training. Among them is Khadijat Adigun, the first female pilot in Kwara State", he said.

He added: "We are pleased to inform you that the International Aviation College, Ilorin has raised the standard of the aviation training in Nigeria and has become a reference institution in aviation training," adding that "we are already extending our tentacles to other West African countries."
