ABS FC coach joins Nasarawa Utd

Date: 2013-12-06

The chief coach of Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS FC) of Ilorin, Kabiru Dogo, has moved to the Nasarawa United FC of Lafia, a team in the Nigeria National League (NNL).

The general manager of the club, Alloy Chukwuemeka, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in a telephone interview.

"I can confirm to you that Dogo has moved to Nasarawa Utd, he resumed with them at their training ground this morning.

"He is such a humble, hardworking and honest coach, we wish him luck in his new job," Chukwuemeka said.

Chukwuemeka said there would be no Christmas break for the coaches and players of the club in preparation for the next season.

According to him, the no-break directive became necessary in view of the short time left before the kick-off of the NNL season.

He said his team requires time to screen most of the invited players even as he further confirmed the exit of 13 of its key players to various premier league clubs.

Chukwuemeka, who doubles as the acting Secretary of the Club Owners, also disclosed the readiness of the Ilorin pro-side team to name a new coach for the club.

He declined to mention the identity of the would-be coach.

NAN reports that ABS FC was relegated at the end of 2012/2013 Globacom Premier League season to the Nigeria National League (NNL).

NAN also reports that ABS FC will host Abia Comets in Ilorin on January 25, 2014 to commence the 2013/2014 NNL season.

The January 25 kick-off date was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of 2013 NNL annual Clubs Congress meeting held on Thursday in Abuja.

The communiqué was signed by Chukwuemeka, the chairman of NNL Communique Drafting Committee.
