Press Release: Saraki family commits 2.5 Million Naira as annual scholarship to Unilorin
His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Bukola Saraki, on behalf of the Saraki dynasty has initiated and launched "LATE {DR.} ABUBAKAR OLUSOLA SARAKI ANNUAL PRIZE AWARD " to the best graduating students in Medicine and Political science of the University of Ilorin . Senator Saraki's initiative which is borne out of his commitment and determination to support education and encourage young undergraduate students has not come as a surprise to the academia communities as his achievement in area of education while in office as Governor of Kwara State speaks for him.
Towards this fulfilment, a cheque of 2.5 Million Naira was handed over to the V. C of the University, Prof. Ambali. Receiving the cheque on behalf of the institution, Professor Ambali commended Senator Saraki and the Saraki family for the initiative and philanthropy. He assures that the donation will go a long way to boost the morale and academic performances of the students. He also assured that the money will be judiciously and transparently utilised.
It would be recalled that the beneficiaries of the 2013 Annual Prizes were announced during the last convocation ceremony of the University where they were physically presented with the cash donations. The beneficiaries are: for medicine, Mohammed Jamiu YUSUF and for Political Science is Temitope Alimat ALATISE.
As we all know, the late Dr OLUSOLA SARAKI was a medical Doctor and a Politician of high repute.
Alhaji Lakadir, Alhaji Garba Dare, Alhaji Nasir Subair and all directors in ABS mandate constituency office Ilorin, represented Senator Bukola Saraki at the event.
