Saraki while speaking on behalf of the delegation stated Nigeria has indeed lost a true, honest, steadfast and dependable figure, who left his mark in the sand of time. He was a man of many 'firsts'. A true democrat that became the first civilian governor and the first national chairman the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He described late Chief Lar as an astute politician whose exemplary decorum and loyalty in the conduct of politics and life will be greatly missed.

He also went further to state the elder statesman will be remembered for his selflessness and positive contribution to the political development of the country.

Saraki prayed for strength for the entire family as they go through this difficult moment and urged Mama to remain strong in the face of this great loss of a doting husband and take solace in the fact that he lived a life worthy of emulation.
