Kwara govt sanctions 11 civil servants over asset declaration
For failing to declare their assets, no fewer than 11 civil servants in Kwara state have been sanctioned, the state Head of Service, Alhaji Dabarako Mohammed, has said.
He said that the affected persons failed to complete and return the assets declaration forms made available to them.
The chief civil servant stated this while featuring on a Radio Kwara interactive programme "The Platform," in Ilorin.
Mohammed said that the concerned workers were held liable for their actions, and called on all civil servants to take the issue of assets declaration seriously.
He stated that very soon, agreement would be reached with banks that were ready to take 20 per cent interest on the loans for workers.
He said that the loan, ranging from N600,000, N800,000 to N1 million would be given to civil servants, based on their grade levels and clarified that it was not compulsory for any civil servant to access it.
Mohammed, who was reacting to the agitations over the N335million car loans approved for all political office holders in the state, cautioned the workers against comparing themselves with politicians.
According to him, political office holders have tenure, while civil servants have 35 years in the service, and are entitled to pensions and gratuities on retirement.
