Date: 2012-04-09

National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) has commended Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State on the introduction of free education in both primary and secondary schools in the state.

In a release, signed by the Director of Sports of the students' body, Comrade Ninalowo Saheed Shola, and made available to Community News in Ilorin recently, the NANS also commended the state government on the reduction of tuition fees in Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete.

The students, who described Governor Ahmed as governor-general of Nigerian students, said the governor had always been supportive of students' programmes and requests.

The statement, jointly endorsed by the NANS executives, Joint Campus Committee, Kwara State, NANS Zone C representatives, North Central Students Forum and Kwara State Students Stakeholders, identified with the ongoing West African Universities Games (WAUG) 2012, holding in the University of Ilorin, Kwara State.

The students body also commended the efforts of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, for being a worthy host of students from institutions across West Africa.

The NANS members promised to make the programme and stay of members of participating institutions safe and successful in the country.

The NANS also called on the Federal Government to always invent and implement programmes and policies that would bring students in the country together, adding that the strength of every nation was in the youth.
