Kidnapped Ex-Custom Officer Regains Freedom

Date: 2022-01-11

Mohammed Zarma, the retired Deputy Comptroller General of Customs, who was abducted by unknown gunmen last Thursday, in Ilorin, regained his freedom on Monday.

Mohammed was abducted at about 6pm on Thursday, while at his Okejia farm, in the Egbejila area of Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.

He was picked up inside a bush along Ilorin-Ogbomoso highway on Monday after his release by the armed kidnappers.

Informed sources said his car was vandalized with bullets, while two of his boys who were with him during the incident were held by the police authorities for questioning.

Although family sources claimed ransom was paid for the victim’s freedom, we could not confirm from the spokesman of the State Police Command, Mr Okasanmi Ajayi on Tuesday.

A text message sent to him seeking confirmation of the incident was not replied.

Recall that the State Police Command confirmed the abduction of the retired customs officer.

Police operatives found expended bullets at the scene of the incident during the course of their investigations.
