Police arraign butcher for armed robbery

Police in Ilorin has arraigned a 27-years-old butcher, Ahmed Musa before on Ilorin Magistrate Court for allegedly dispossessing a man of his valuables.

The accused was said to have on July 22 attacked one Sambo Bani of Ogamue Village, via Okuta, Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, while he was traveling from  Ile-Shau Baruba's Market on his motor cycle.

According to the victim, when he reached a spot between Boriya and Ogamue village, the accused and two others now at large suddenly emmerged from the bush and attacked him with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons.

The victim stated further that he sustained several deep cut on the head, body and had fracture on the left hand, while the sum of N120,000 was stolen from him.

Police First Information Report (F.I.R) on the matter stated that upon the statement made by the victim the accused was arrested.

The FIR added that investigation conducted at the State Criminal Investigation Department revealed that the accused and two others now at large were the hoodlums that conspired and attacked the victim and dispossessed him of his money.

The prosecutor, Corporal Adenigba Lukman objected to the bail of the accused and urged the court to remand him in prison custody until the outcome of the police investigation.

The judge, Mrs. M.B. Adeyemo granted the oral application of the prosecutor, and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Federal Prison Oke-Kura, Ilorin, until the next adjourned date.

The case was adjourned till September 10 for further mention.
