As part of efforts towards strengthening the judicial system in the areas of Criminal Justice Delivery, the Chief Justice of Kwara State Ayinla Bamigbola, has advocated for modern approach for justice delivery.

The CJ who stated this in Ilorin while receiving the members of the 6th Command Course of the Nigeria Prison Service Barnawa, Kaduna, in his office stressed the importance of the Nigeria Prison Service in complementing the hectic work of judges, nothing that the agency has not failed the judiciary in the state.

According to him, there is no doubt that the Prison has been performing excellently well in the recent times. It is indeed needed to keep the accused persons for the comfort of the society.

He however assured that members of the Criminal Justice Committee in the state would look into cases of suspects awaiting trial in order to decongest the prison and also guard against the denial of justice to the concerned individuals, pledging that partnership would continue in order to ensure security and peace of the state and nation at large.

Earlier, the leader of the team who is also the Assistant Commandant of the College, CP Patrick Funtong, emphasised that the institute is the highest training college for prison officials in the West Africa Sub-region.

The Assistant Commandant further disclosed that prison officials would continue to count on the supports of the judiciary and promised that the NPS would always do its best to enhance harmonious relationship between the prison yard and the court.
