ABS coaches get three-match ultimatum, players on half salary
The players and coaches of the Ilorin-based premier league side have been told to sit up in the next three matches or have their jobs reviewed
ABS Board and Management have placed the players of the club on half salary while the coaches have been told to win the next three matches or seek jobs elsewhere.
A player of the club who does not want his name in print confirmed the report and stressed that it was the fallout of their 2-2 home draw recorded against Wikki Tourists last weekend.
ABS are expected to beat Bayelsa United (away), Akwa United (home) and 3SC (away) if the players do not want their salaries slashed by half and the coaches sacked.
"Yes, it is true. They had a meeting with us today (Monday morning) and we were told that we shall receive half salary each as players and that our coaches too have three matches to save their jobs," said the player.
"The Management and Board were not happy that we couldn't win our home game against Wikki Tourists and it was the sole reason for this action. We shall strive to do our best in the next three matches at Bayelsa United and 3SC.We however have a home match between the two against Akwa United," the player volunteered to Goal.
ABS plunged themselves into relegation dogfight after playing a draw at home to fellow relegation battlers Wikki Tourists.
The Saraki Boys have 33 points from 26 matches. This is the club's third season in the premier league. They were called Bukola Babes in their debut season before adopting the new name Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC (ABS) called after their new owner and former Kwara State Governor, Abubakar Bukola Saraki
