UITH to begin kidney transplant
The University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), in collaboration with the International Society of Nephrology and Sheffield University, United Kingdom (UK), will soon begin renal care and kidney transplant.
The Chief Medical Director (CMD), Prof Abdulwaheed Olatinwo, said this yesterday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
He said training of personnel and investigations on the unit were being concluded.
The CMD, who said the unit would become operational before the end of the year, added that the hospital had perfected arrangements to start constructive and plastic surgeries as part of measures to improve its revenue generation drive.
He added that the institution expended a sum of N16million monthly on diesel.
This is aside from N2million being paid to Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) monthly as electricity bill.
He urged Nigerians not to travel abroad for medical attention any longer, saying Nigeria hospitals have all it takes.
