Ramadan: "Strive to restore social values" - Saraki

Date: 2013-07-09

I welcome all Muslim faithfuls to the holy month of Ramadan - the month of blessings and forgiveness, a period when Muslims in the world over would have private time to reflect in our relationship with Allah. It is a period of opportunity to move closer to Allah and worship Him more than before by abstaining from sinful activities.

Beyond this, it is a time to purge and purify our souls, focus more attention on Allah, practice self-sacrifice, and show lasting compassion to people around us. More also, in this holy month, we are to sincerely re-evaluate our lives, get closer to our maker, give alms to the needy, strengthen ties with family and friends and importantly to strive to restore social values by living the messages of Islam.

While wishing every Muslim a fulfilled month of fasting, I urge you all to pray for the peace and unity of of our dear nation, Nigeria. May Allah accept our Ibidah.

Ramadan Kareem

Signed
Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki
