My turbaning as Turaki, a call to higher service - Saraki
Former governor of Kwara State, Senator Bukola Saraki, has described his turbaning as Turakin Raya Kasar Nupe as a call to a higher service to the country.
The senator, representing Kwara Central Senatorial district, made this known in a statement issued by his media aide, Mr Bamikole Omishore.
Saraki, according to the statement, was honoured with the traditional title by the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Abubakar Yahaya, on Saturday.
"Every milestone attained conveys the capital of good works done. Today (Saturday), many miles away, far across many bridges, I am being turbanned as Turaki Rayar Kasar Nupe in Bida, Niger State.
"I heartily appreciate everyone for the continuous and ever-growing support, not for me as a person, but for good governance which I stand and work for with other Nigerians alike.
"As I receive this honour with joy, I thank the Etsu, the paramount ruler of Nupe people and Bida Emirate in Niger State for this rare and thoughtful honour."
"This occasion comes with more challenge than celebration; the challenge to maintain high level of good governance; the challenge to remain steadfast without preference to tribe or religious inclination. My belief is to always put the nation first above other things. Therefore, I dedicate this day and the honour to you all. Your support made it possible," Saraki said.
