KWSG calls for synergy with private colleges of education

The Kwara State Government has called for synergy between Government and private Colleges of Education in the state with a view to creating uniformity in the programmes and output of the colleges.
The State Commissioner for Tertiary Education Science and Technology, Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed Lade, made the charge during a visit to the College of Education, Ilemona during the week.
He urged the school management to tailor their courses towards making their graduates job creators rather than job seekers, through the introduction of entrepreneurial programmes in the college.
Lade reiterated the State Government's zero tolerance for cultism and cult related activities
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Jibril Baba Haruna, urged the Management to encourage students to live on campus by restructuring the times of lectures and by making sporting facilities available as well as other extra-curricular activities, adding that Student should be exposed to research by adequately equipping the college library.
The schools Proprietor, Chief Rasaq Oyewole, disclosed that the college was established in 2006 and has graduated four sets of students, some of whom have graduated from Universities and are gainfully employed.
In a related development, Speaking at the Al-Iqmah University, Ilorin the Commissioner explained that the State Government was working towards making graduates of the State Tertiary Institutions job creators and not job seekers through the introduction of entrepreneurial acquisitions programmes in all tertiary institutions.
Lade lauded the introduction of dress code to the University Students, adding that the state Government appreciated the school’s dress code.
In his earlier address, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Sulaiman AbdulKareem Age, said the institution ensures that students are trained to undergo practical courses at 300 level to make them enterpreneurs, adding that the University was constructing a water sachet and bottle factory which was 75 per cent completed.
Age reiterated that the institution has realised the need for students to create jobs for which professionals have been invited to teach basic entrepreneurial skills.
He sought for the support of the State Government in the areas of laboratories and buses among other facilities.
