The Kwara State Government has promised to complete all ongoing road projects within Ilorin metropolis by August this year.
The State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Dr. Abubakar Amuda-Kannike, made the pledge yesterday during an unscheduled visit to some of the on-going road project  sites in the state capital.
Some of the sites visited are Flower Garden, Oke-Andi collapsed bridge and road construction, Opo-Malu-Isale Maliki road, Film House-Gambari road and Mustapha Aberi Road.
Others are the ongoing drainage construction at Kokorokan, the Apron Taxi way to Cargo shed at the Ilorin International Airport; pipeline collapsed bridge as well as Abdulsalam Alao Road at Gaa-Akanbi.
Kannike said every machinery has been put in motion to ensure that the contractors handling the projects completed them according to specifications to enable kwarans enjoy maximum benefits.
He stated that majority of the projects would be completed by August, urging Kwarans to support government to facilitate their delivery at the scheduled time.
"We are trying to put pressure on the contractors to ensure the projects are completed as soon as possible. We are aware of what rain can do should the job be delayed. We appeal to everyone to join hands with government in order to achieve that target ".
"By the time the rain comes proper, work may not continue at the expected pace. That is why we need to do everything now before we get to the peak of the raining season.
Kannike explained that majority of the projects visited were initiated within the budget year and are within the scope of their completion date".
