Airforce Construct Flood Drainage for Oloje Community
Speaking with Community News during 2013 one-week community service programme of the Airforce, one of the community leaders in the area, Dr. Abdulsemiu Mohammad Kewuyo, said the efforts would help foster better community relationship.
“We thank God, the Airforce is doing something to arrest the problem of erosion in this environment. The Airforce people came out like this last year when we had this erosion problem. Then, we envisaged that they will give us a lasting solution to the problem, but the whole thing persisted. We hope that with what they are out to do now, it will be a better job than what they did before to put a lasting solution to the perennial flooding,” he said.
The community leader, who said the best the community could have was for state government to come to their assistance, added that there might have been communal clash between the people of the community and the Airforce if not that the residents had been exploring wisdom and maturity.
“We call on the state government to intervene to avoid avoidable clash,” he said.
Meanwhile, the authorities of the Airforce said they have qualified personnel in every speciality to do the job at hand and assured quality work.
It was also gathered that the Airforce, through its Enhancing Nigeria Airforce Community Development also provided free medical services to people of the area during and after the week celebration.
The men and officers of 203 Medium Airlift Group barrack also rehabilitated some bad portions of road in Gbagba area of Ilorin in order to make the road motorable.
