Nigerian Table Tennis Federation to Organise Regular Contests
The President of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation, Mr Kayode Omotose has promised to organise regular table tennis championships as a way of putting the athletes in shape.
Mr Omotose made this known in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, North Central Nigeria, during the Sponsorship of the State Table Tennis Association Chairman’s Cup.
The Sponsor who is also the State Chairman of the association used the event to declare his intention to re-contest for the presidency of the Table Tennis Federation.
Talent discovery
Mr Omotose said the event was organised to discover more talents and improve the game of Table Tennis in the state.
At the end of the tournament, Taiye Jimoh, one of the table tennis stars in the state, won the Kwara State Chairman of the Table Tennis Association Cup.
Jimoh beat Bello Rasaq three straight sets in the Men’s final, while Bisola Asaju defeated Fatimoh Bello three straight sets to win the Female single.
Habibat Ibrahim edged out Taiye Olawoyin three-two in the wheel chair open while Lekan Abdullahi defeated Rasheed Yusuf three straight sets to win the Male category.
