Association Offers Ministry of Education Tips on Good Health
The Association of Resident Doctors, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, UITH, chapter, last week took its campaign on healthy living to the Kwara State Ministry of Education to enlighten the staff of the ministry on how to keep healthy living.
Speaking at the sensitization programme tagged “Epidemiology of Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) held at the ministry, the leader of the team on the visit, Dr. Dare Julius disclosed that the primary aim of the visit was to counsel the staff on the importance of healthy diet and medical check-up as important tools towards a healthy living.
He added that the visit was a freewill one as part of the association’s contributions to the growth of the society.
He harped on the importance of medical check-up and advised the people to always check their sugar level and blood level to prevent some life threatening diseases towards ensuring a disease-free society.
Julius advised the people not to smoke and they should always engage in some physical exercises.
He disclosed that the ministry was their first port of call and the visit would be extended to other ministries as time goes on.
In his own remark, the President of the association, Dr. Dele Tajudeen, said the goal of the association is to impact on the people of the state, saying that the association would strive to achieve its set goals.
It was reported that various medical tests were conducted on the staff of the ministry. The tests, among others, include diabetes, high blood pressure, physical and BAI tests.
