PDP SAYS ACN DEAD, BURIED

Date: 2012-03-07

Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said that the Supreme Court verdict which affirmed victory of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed in the 2011 governorship election finally nailed and buried the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in the state.

According to the party, the verdict also puts an end to the "politics of deceit and propaganda" of ACN in the State.

The party in a statement signed by its Director of Publicity, Alhaji Mas’ud Adebimpe said: "As a party who believe in the sanctity of the judiciary as the last hope of common man and the rule of law, was not wavered in her believe that this is a testimony that no amount of falsehood and media propaganda can triumph over truth and sincerity of purpose."

According to him, "With the Tuesday’s judgment delivered by Justice F. F. Tabai, the whole world would be better informed that there was no gain saying the fact that Kwarans are true democrats who believe in the power of the people and freely demonstrated that through ballots box, by voting PDP in the last general elections.

"While we congratulate Kwarans on this landslide victory and for their unflinching support since the legal battle commenced, the party wishes to assure all and sundry that the PDP government would leave up to expectations in fulfilling all its electioneering promises.

"We also appeal to all Kwarans to continue to support the ruling PDP government, programmes and policies in the state, under the able and dynamic Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, who with your cooperation would take the State to the promise land.

"Equally, the ruling has not only re-echoed the acceptability of PDP, but has further strengthened the stronghold of the party as the only party to beat in the State of Harmony.

"Once again, the PDP rejoices and congratulates all Kwarans at home and in Diaspora for this sweet victory. Let us all remain united and supportive to the government we put in place, so that together we get to the promise land", he said.
