Taiwo Awoniyi Foundation Brings UK Trainers to Ilorin for Grassroots Coaches' Workshop
The Taiwo Awoniyi Foundation (TAF) has finalized arrangements to host football trainers from the United Kingdom in Kwara State for a four-day capacity-building workshop aimed at advancing grassroots football development.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Secretary of the foundation, Sulaiman Atunrase, disclosed that the training will take place from November 7 to 10, 2026, at the George Agbazika Inih Stadium in Ilorin. The program will combine theoretical instruction with practical on-pitch modules for 44 selected grassroots coaches.
Invitations have also been extended to the technical leadership of Kwara United FC and ABS Ilorin FC to foster knowledge-sharing across both professional and developmental levels of the sport.
The program forms part of ongoing efforts by Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi to invest in local coaching capacity and improve player development structures throughout Kwara State.
Atunrase stated that the workshop will expose participants to modern coaching methodologies, contemporary tactical frameworks, and practical techniques designed to enhance player performance and technical development.
"The combination of theoretical instruction and on-field practical sessions is expected to provide participants with opportunities to deepen their understanding of the game while acquiring practical skills they can apply in their respective clubs, academies and communities," Atunrase noted.
He added that because grassroots coaches serve as the initial mentors for young athletes, updating their technical skills will have a long-term positive impact on youth football development across the state.
