Kwara NSCDC Nab Suspect Over N78.3m PXES Investment Scam
The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has recorded operational breakthroughs after arresting two suspects in separate cases involving an alleged N78.3 million investment fraud and a cult-related clash.
The operations, which form part of the Command's intelligence-led efforts to curb crime and protect lives and property, also led to the recovery of a locally fabricated pistol and mobile phones.
In the first incident, NSCDC operatives from the Command's Tracking Unit arrested 33-year-old Onwucheku Odum Umeh in Ikeja, Lagos State, at approximately 12:00 p.m. on 15 October 2026. The arrest followed a formal complaint lodged on 19 September 2026 concerning an alleged scheme operated under the PXES investment platform, which involved cheating, fraudulent activities, and obtaining money under false pretences.
Preliminary investigations revealed that six investors deposited a total sum of N78,360,709 into the platform before it became inaccessible, blocking users from accessing their accounts or retrieving their funds. Investigators traced the account used for receiving investor funds directly to the suspect. Furthermore, links were established between the PXES platform and Ragekay Global Investment Limited, where a substantial portion of the invested capital was allegedly channeled.
During interrogation, the suspect named one Khadijat Mamma Yahaya as the individual who introduced him to the scheme. Operational efforts are currently underway to track her down and determine the full extent of the syndicate.
The Command has requested all individuals who sustained financial losses through the PXES platform to present relevant documentary evidence including bank transfer receipts, transaction records, payment confirmations, and direct communications to assist with the ongoing investigation. The agency also cautioned members of the public to exercise due diligence and verify the legitimacy of investment platforms before committing their financial resources.
In a separate enforcement action, NSCDC operatives apprehended 29-year-old Oluwafemi Olarewaju in Ilorin, Kwara State, over his alleged participation in a cult-related clash. Preliminary findings indicated that the suspect was on a retaliation mission following an initial confrontation, while other fleeing accomplices escaped from the scene. Operatives recovered a locally fabricated pistol and mobile phones during the operation.
Reaffirming the Command's commitment to public safety, the Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC, Commandant Abbas Ndah Mohammed, assured residents that proactive, intelligence-driven operations would be sustained across the state to bring all unlawful actors to justice.
