Twenty-three 100-level students of the University of Ilorin have received full scholarships, annual cash grants and digital learning equipment under the Airtel Africa Foundation Scholarship Programme.

The beneficiaries were presented with the awards on Tuesday during the inauguration of the University's 39th Students' Union Executive Council.

Each scholar received a N500,000 annual grant, a brand-new laptop and enrolment in a structured mentorship programme that will run throughout their undergraduate studies.

The scholarship will be renewed annually until graduation, provided each beneficiary maintains a minimum CGPA of 3.5.

Speaking at the event, the Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Dr Alex Morenikeji Akanmu, said the initiative was concluded during the administration of the outgoing Students' Union President, Adelu, following a rigorous selection process.

Presenting the laptops alongside the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, the Airtel Nigeria State Business Manager, Mr Latif Lawal, disclosed that the University of Ilorin produced the highest number of beneficiaries among the six Nigerian universities selected for the programme.

He noted that 23 students from UNILORIN emerged successful, underscoring the institution's strong academic standards and the quality of its students.

The Airtel Africa Foundation Scholarship Programme is designed to support academically outstanding students with financial assistance, digital learning tools and mentorship to help them excel throughout their university education.
