Tens of thousands of members and loyalists of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday trooped out across various wards in Kwara State for the commencement of the party's Ward Congress.

The exercise witnessed large turnouts in several communities, including Adewole, Oju Ekun Zarumi, and Alanamu in Ilorin West; Ibagun in Ilorin East; Alapa in Asa; Share in Ifelodun; and Okuta in Baruten, among others.

The party adopted an affirmation method to retain most incumbent ward executives, citing their performance, except in a few areas where zoning arrangements and other considerations required adjustments.

The congress is being monitored by representatives from the party's national headquarters in Abuja.

Speaking with journalists, the Kwara APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, commended party members and leaders for their strong participation, unity, and peaceful conduct during the exercise.

The ward congresses are expected to continue until March.

The APC remains the ruling party in the state under the leadership of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
