Kwara PDP Dismisses Defections to APC, Insists Party Remains Strong for 2027
The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has declared that recent defections of some members to the All Progressives Congress (APC) are isolated incidents that will neither weaken the party's structure nor diminish its chances of reclaiming power in the 2027 general election.
Addressing party members in Ilorin Central (Magaji/Ngeri) constituency on Wednesday, the constituency chairman, Alhaji Nuhu Magaji, insisted that the PDP remains united, cohesive, and fully determined to take back political power in Kwara State in 2027.
He described the defections as inconsequential, stressing that they cannot affect the party's fortunes at the polls.
Members commended former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, for reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the PDP, describing his stance as a major source of confidence and stability for party faithful across the state.
Addressing rumours that former National Assembly aspirant Ibrahim Ajia might defect to the APC, the Constituency Secretary, Hon. Abdulkadir Tunde, said any such move would be a purely personal decision that neither reflects the position of the constituency nor undermines the party's grassroots strength.
The members reaffirmed their "total and indivisible" loyalty to the PDP and its leadership, declaring that the party's unity is rooted in shared values rather than individual ambitions.
They also praised senior leader Alhaji Abubakar Kawu Baraje for his consistent guidance, stating that Ilorin Central constituency remains solidly behind Dr Bukola Saraki and fully focused on building unstoppable momentum for the 2027 elections.
