The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari (CFR), has approved the appointment of Prince Aliyu Kolapo Abdulkadir as the new District Head (Daudu) of Ballah in the Asa Local Government Area.

Prince Abdulkadir, 68, emerged as the preferred candidate following a competitive selection process within the Ilorin Emirate. He succeeds the late Alhaji Salman Olarongbe Abdulkadir, who was turbaned in 2012.

The new District Head is a direct son of the 10th Emir of Ilorin, the late Alhaji Aliyu Abdulqadir Baba Agba, and a younger brother to the late former Chief of Staff to the Kwara State Government, Prince AbdulKadir Aliyu Mahe, who passed away in late 2024.

Beyond his royal lineage, Prince Abdulkadir brings a wealth of administrative and legal expertise to the role. He retired as a Director with the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from the IMO International Maritime Law Institute.

Formally confirming the appointment, the Emir of Ilorin offered prayers for a peaceful reign, urging the new traditional leader to govern with wisdom, justice, and fairness. In a statement signed by the Emir's Personal Assistant, Dr. Abdulraheem Muritala, the appointment was lauded as a blend of traditional values and modern administrative competence.

The Ballah community, a strategic hub in Asa LGA, is now preparing for a formal reception to welcome Prince Abdulkadir as the new custodian of its culture and heritage.
