Massive Police Escort Withdrawal in Kwara Leaves VIPs Seeking NSCDC Protection
There is a massive withdrawal of police escorts protecting Very Important Persons (VIPs) in Kwara State, DAILY POST reports.
The exercise is in compliance with the order issued by President Bola Tinubu to the Inspector General of Police, Mr Kayode Egbetokun.
Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, disclosed this in a chat with DAILY POST in Ilorin on Sunday.
He stated that "the compliance is massive," adding that no defaulters have been arrested yet.
Informed sources within the police command disclosed that, aside from the Governor and his Deputy, who retained their police escorts, all other political office holders have had their escorts withdrawn.
Sources informed DAILY POST that requests for protection are now being directed to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Command Headquarters in Ilorin.
However, DAILY POST gathered that the NSCDC is also facing a shortage of personnel, hence, the agency's inability to meet the significant demand for security escorts.
