Kwara Reaffirms Commitment to Fair Revenue Growth Amid Stakeholder Engagement
The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to working with stakeholders to achieve sustainable revenue growth without imposing undue hardship on citizens.
Dr. Hauwa Nuru, the State Commissioner for Finance, gave the assurance during a meeting with members of the Brain Builder Youth Development Initiative, who paid an advocacy visit to her office in Ilorin.
She explained that the state is reforming its tax system to promote accountability, transparency, and efficient public service delivery, while ensuring fairness and shared economic prosperity.
Dr. Nuru noted that revenue collection processes have been streamlined to support businesses and encourage compliance, adding that ongoing infrastructure projects are contributing to broader economic development.
She also highlighted significant progress in land administration, including faster land titling, timely issuance of Certificates of Occupancy, and the digitisation of land records to improve access for residents and investors alike.
Programme Officer of the initiative, Ramat Owolabi, called for deeper collaboration with government on tax compliance and grievance resolution. She stressed that the organisation's work in budget literacy, stakeholder engagement, and system integration aligns with the state's push for an inclusive and technology-driven tax administration.
Owolabi also commended Kwara's transparent tax policies, particularly those designed to support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
