NGF Condemns Brutal Attack in Benue's Guma LGA, Offers Solidarity to Families and State

Date: 2025-06-17

The Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF) has strongly condemned a deadly attack on communities in Guma Local Government Area (LGA), Benue State, in a statement signed by its chairman and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. The forum expressed deep sorrow over the violence in Yelewata and Daudu communities, commiserating with Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, the state government, and affected residents.

Governor AbdulRazaq, on behalf of the NGF, stated: "This heinous act represents a grievous affront to human dignity and must be unequivocally denounced. We stand in solidarity with the bereaved families and the Benue State Government during this time of profound grief."

The attack, which targeted civilians, has intensified calls for federal and state collaboration to address insecurity in farming and settlement zones across Nigeria. The NGF reiterated its commitment to prioritising peace and protection of lives and property nationwide.

"We pray for the peaceful repose of the departed souls, divine comfort for grieving families, speedy recovery for the injured, and the resilience of survivors.

"The Forum pledges its full cooperation and readiness to assist Benue State and relevant authorities in restoring peace and security. We urge every Nigerian, irrespective of creed or affiliation, to denounce such brutality and collaborate towards forging a nation rooted in peace, justice, and mutual respect," the NGF said.
