A cattle rearer, Audu Wakili, 27 of Lanwa village, via Bode Sa'adu, Kwara State, has been remanded at the Federal Prison, Oke-Kura, Ilorin, for allegedly grazing a farm with his cattle.

The order to remand the accused was made by an Ilorin Magistrate Court before which he appeared on a three-count charge of criminal trespass, mischief and attempt to commit culpable homicide.

Wakili was also accused to have attempted to kill the owner of the farm when he challenged him of his action.

Police said that the accused committed the crime on January 28, 2013 when he entered into the farm of Honourable Dauda Idris of Okuso village with his cattles and destroyed the crops valued at N200,000.

According to the Police First Information Report (FIR) on the matter, when the accused was challenged he brought out his cutlass and macheted the farm owner on his hand.

The FIR added further that the accused committed the offences.

The prosecutor, Corporal Animashaun Olawale objected to the bail of the accused and urged the court to remand him in the prison yard, Ilorin until the next adjourned date.

The prosecutor submitted further that the alleged offences committed by the accused were not ordinarily bailable and if the accused was admitted to bail at this stage of the trial he might jump bail having known the gravity of the offences, which in turn would jeopadise the ongoing investigation.

Magistrate B.A. Baraje refused the bail of the accused and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Federal Prison, Oke-Kura, Ilorin, until the next adjourned date.

The court adjourned the case till February 13, 2013 for further mention.
