Following the renewed age-old communal clash between the Offa and Erin Ile communities in Kwara State, Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed has directed traditional rulers of the two communities to henceforth, maintain peaceful coexistence in their communities or be prepared to shoulder the dire consequences of hostilities.

In a release signed by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the governor, Wahab Oba and made available to journalists in Ilorin, on Thursday, the governor urged the people of Offa and Erin-Ile in Offa and Oyun Local Government Areas of the state, to embrace peace, describing the killing of innocent citizens and destruction of property between the two hitherto friendly neighbours as cruel and barbaric.

He also called for immediate cessation of hostility and restoration of peace and order in the communities.

Governor Ahmed again urged the people of Offa and Erin-Ile in Offa and Oyun Local Government Areas of the state, to embrace peace in the midst of the problem between the two communities.

He promised to bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to justice, saying that "government will not condone any act of lawlessness from any individual or community."

Meanwhile, the Kwara State police command said, on Thursday, that it had arrested eight persons allegedly involved in the communal clash between the people of Offa and Erin Ile communities in the state.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner of Police, Chinweke Asadu, and made available to journalists in the state on Thursday, the police said the suspected trouble makers were caught with various calibre of fire arms and ammunition.
