NUC List of Fake Professors: UNILORIN Management Sets the Record Straight
The management of the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, has strongly denied a list of 11 alleged fake professors purportedly affiliated with the institution, which was recently circulated on social media, as reported by Vanguard. The list, allegedly compiled by the National University Commission (NUC), has been widely shared on various social media platforms.
In a statement titled "Purported fake professors, not known to UNILORIN – Management", the university's management categorically denied any association with the individuals listed. The statement, made available to Vanguard Correspondent in Ilorin on Sunday, was signed by the Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun.
The university's management has distanced itself from the list, stating that the individuals mentioned are not known to the institution. The statement is seen as a bid to clear the university's name and maintain its reputation.
According to the statement, “The attention of the management of the University of Ilorin has been drawn to a trending list of 100 fake professors in some universities in the country as purportedly uncovered by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
“Even though the NUC has dissociated itself from the list that first surfaced in December 2019, we deem it expedient to categorically disown the 11 so-called professors listed against the University of Ilorin in the recently exhumed report.”
It added, “None of the persons on the list is on our University's nominal roll, nor had any of them ever had any dealing with the University of Ilorin at any time or in any guise.
“This clarification is necessary to assure our esteemed stakeholders that UNILORIN's well-heeled reputation for high integrity and strict adherence to best global practices in everything we do, especially on issues of staff promotion, remains unsoiled and it can never be compromised.
“We view the trending report as another antic of purveyors of fake news and mischief makers, and they should be rightly ignored,” concluded the statement.
