The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, officially turbaned Alhaji Abdulraheem Ayinla Ajumobi Olohunoje as the 11th Magaji (Head) of the Olohunoje family worldwide during a ceremony held over the weekend in the Alore area of Ilorin, located within the Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State, as reported by The BluePrint

The colourful and well-attended ceremony took place at the Olohunoje family compound in Alore, Ilorin.

The turbaning was conducted by the Imam Imale of Ilorin, Alhaji Abdullah AbdulHameed, on the directive of the Emir. The event was also attended by the Emir's personal assistant, Alhaji Moddibo Sulu-Gambari, and the Galadiman-Geri of Ilorin Emirate.

The Emir offered prayers for a successful reign for the new Magaji and encouraged the family members to continue living together in peace and harmony. He also urged the new family head to prioritise justice and unity among all family members.

Alhaji Ajumobi, a retired staff member of the Kwara State Pilgrims Welfare Board, was chosen as the new Magaji of the Olohunoje family, both at home and abroad, following his endorsement by family members.

Confirming Abdulraheem's choice in a statement made available to journalists Wednesday in Ilorin by the elder and spokesman of the Olorunoje family, Alhaji Abdulkareem Olorunoje (Baba Kano), the family had said the choice of the retired civil servant was arrived at, after a well-attended family meeting held at the Olorunoje family compound Saturday.

“The choice of Abdulraheem came about after our meeting held Saturday, August 17. He deserved and merited the position. Besides being a core Olohunoje blood, the entire family members home and abroad.

In his brief lecture shortly after the turbaning ceremony, a renowned Ilorin-based Islamic cleric, Alhaji Umaru Babatunde (Soyihul Bayani), described Ajumobi's emergence as a round peg in a round hole.

He said his emergence would open windows of opportunities for the family because of his right choice which he acknowledged was also endorsed by the emir.

The cleric admonished those in positions of authorities and leadership at all levels to govern their followers with fear of Allah.
