Kwara Agency Warns Politicians Ahead of Local Elections
According to a news report from Voice of Nigeria, the Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency (KWASAA) has issued a timely warning to politicians in the state ahead of the upcoming local government elections scheduled for September.
The General Manager of KWASAA, Al-Imam Ismail Asukuti, cautioned politicians against the indiscriminate erection of billboards and posters during a question-and-answer session with journalists. He urged them to consult the agency before putting up any promotional materials and reiterated that government structures should be kept free of posters.
Asukuti warned that KWASAA would continue to remove unauthorised posters and billboards, ensuring that the pre-election period remains orderly and within regulations. He also assured politicians of fairness in the allocation of space for their promotional materials.
In a commendable gesture, Asukuti praised the state's Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for granting the agency autonomy in its operations. Additionally, KWASAA has provided free-of-charge boards at strategic locations, including Unity, Post-Office, and Saint Anthony's Secondary School in Ilorin, for public use.
