Non-Governmental Organisation, Sisters of Jannah (SOJ) Donates Cash To Hospital Patients
According to a news report from HighProfile, an Islamic non-governmental organisation, Sisters of Jannah (SOJ), Ilorin Zone, has presented monetary gifts to selected patients at the General Hospital Ilorin. This initiative aligns with the group's primary objective of providing relief to those in need, particularly indigent hospital patients.
The visit took place on Sunday, 2nd June 2024, with members of the association visiting the postnatal surgical ward, gynaecological ward, and maternity wards. The team, led by Mrs. Rukayat Balogun, offered prayers for the patients' speedy recovery and presented each of ten patients with a sum of N10,000.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude and happiness for the gesture, praying for good health for the members of the association.
Mrs. Mistura Afolabi, the SOJ Coordinator for Ilorin Zone, explained to newsmen that the purpose of the visit was to show love and compassion, reflecting one of the key teachings of Islam regarding care for the sick. She noted that the members felt it was important to visit the patients and reassure them that they are not forgotten.
”As the Prophet Muhammed (SAW) advised that we should be each other's keepers and also a shoulder to lean on, we decided to come to give hope and show love to the sick people.
”Also, one of the agenda of SOJ is to show love to the less privileged and the vulnerables,” Mrs Afolabi said.
She noted that the gifts donated to the patients came from monthly dues from members of the association as well as donations from well wishers.
SOJ is a female-only Muslim group with different zones across Nigeria, dedicated to helping fellow Muslim women and children around the world
The Ilorin Zone of the group has been involving in various charitable activities, such as free cancer screenings for women, building of wells, donation of school teaching materials, visitation to orphanage homes and correctional centres.
