NDE Launches Entrepreneurship Drive in Kwara to Tackle Unemployment
According to news report from Nigerian Tribune, The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Kwara has kicked off an entrepreneurship initiative under the Basic National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (B-NOAS), selecting 20 participants to take part in the programme.
Addressing the launch in Ilorin, Mr. Kudabo Olufemi Gabriel, the state coordinator representing the NDE director general, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, highlighted the programme's aim to combat unemployment and foster wealth creation in alignment with NDE's mission statement.
Fikpo emphasised the importance of vocational skills development in a landscape where traditional employment opportunities are dwindling, urging participants to view the training as a pathway to sustainable livelihoods.
Underlining the programme's inclusivity, Hajia Aminat Shettima, acting director of Vocational Skills Development, outlined its target demographic, which includes school leavers, retirees, unemployed graduates, and vulnerable individuals.
The state coordinator encouraged exemplary conduct among participants, hinting at prospects for advancement to the Advanced National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (A-NOAS) for outstanding performers.
Representing their peers, Baliqees Abubakar and Faith Afariogun expressed gratitude to the federal government for the initiative and pledged their commitment to the training programme.
