Kwara PDP accuses CPC of mischief

Date: 2013-01-16

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has described the allegation by the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) that the Abdulfatah Ahmed administration's desire to boost the fleet of the International Aviation College through the purchase of about 15 aircraft as misplaced priority as criticism borne out of mischief.

The Publicity Secretary of the PDP in Kwara State, Alhaji Mas'ud Adebimpe said the aircraft purchase plan for the International Aviation College was in line with the policy thrust of the PDP led government in the State on the diversification of the economy of the State.

"For the avoidance of doubt, the kernel of the Shared Prosperity Programme of the PDP administration in Kwara State is to create a credible platform for the emergence of highly trained manpower who will be major players in different sectors of the State and national economy", he said.

Alhaji Adebimpe further explained that as the only non federal government driven Aviation College in Nigeria and one of the best in Africa, the International Aviation College has great potentials of impacting positively on the economy of the State as more employment opportunities would be engendered by the increase of the fleet of the College.

It is imperative, the PDP Publicity Secretary added, that the opposition appreciates the salient fact that the PDP led state government is forward looking and remains committed to the transformation of the State from being essentially a civil service state to one with widest spectrum of opportunities where dreams and aspirations of all and sundry are attained and sustained.

Alhaji Mas'ud noted that while the increase of the fleet of aircraft is kind gesture from the federal government in recognition of the importance of the college to the national economy, the Abdulfatah Ahmed remains responsive and responsible to the good people of the State and will never do anything that will put the interest of the State and its people in jeopardy.

The PDP and the State Government are serious minded and profoundly committed to uplifting the standard of living of the people of Kwara State and will not be distracted by spurious allegations. Our covenant with the people of Kwara State is to improve their economic well being through strong support for commercial agriculture, job creation and economic empowerment for the ever growing population of the state.

The PDP led government is stoutly committed to strengthening healthcare delivery through a 500 meter access to quality healthcare, improving supply of electricity and building a first class road network to complement our strategic priorities and enhance our peoples' welfare. The PDP considers anything outside this well-articulated programme of shared prosperity as diversionary and time-wasting.

While the PDP does not claim perfection in its determined efforts to transform the state, as perfection belongs only to God, it will not decimate its precious time by responding to baseless insinuations by the opposition.
