Kwara's Arabic College Has Zero Tolerance for Cultists: Provost
Kwara College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (CAILS) has warned new students against cultism, hooliganism and corruption.
Sa'ad Hadi, the acting provost of the institution, gave the warning on Thursday during the 2023/2024 Matriculation of new students in Ilorin.
Mr Hadi urged the students to be respectful, modest and decent in their dressings to make their stay fruitful and productive.
“Do not hesitate to report any suspicious activities to the dean of student affairs and security officers. Be reminded that the oath you took today is to be obedient to all those in authority, be of good conduct and be warned that any breach will attract appropriate sanctions,” he said.
The acting provost noted that all students must key into the entrepreneurship programme of the college, as well as the computer training programme.
He explained that the objectives behind the programmes were to encourage all levels of education and provide graduate youths with enough training and support to enable them to establish a career.
“The programme will help students establish a career in small and medium-scale businesses and offer functional education for youths that will enable them to be self-employed and self-reliant,” Mr Hadi explained.
The acting provost noted that the students were offered admission to study various courses in the college, having been found qualified and succeeded in mandatory qualifying examinations.
Mr Hadi explained that the college continued to focus on excellence in teaching, research, provision of middle-level manpower and service to society, according to the objectives of its establishment.
“Your parents' struggles to ensure that they give you a sound education have succeeded in taking you to another level of your educational pursuit. You are to reciprocate their gesture through hard work and godliness by reading and praying to have success as the end result.
“I implore you to take your primary assignment very seriously and remember that the distance between today's ceremony and your graduation is not long. It's important that the journey ends successfully,” Mr Hadi stated.
Three hundred students enrolled for the 2023/2024 academic session, with courses from the School of Arts and Islamic Studies, Languages, ICT, Education, Law and Management Science.
