Kwara CPC Petitions Police over Destruction of Office
The Kwara State chapter of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) has petitioned the state's Police Commissioner, Chinwuke Asadu, over alleged unprovoked destruction of the office complex of the party at Kamaldeen Street, Ile Alaro, Okekere Area, Ilorin.
The CPC told reporters in Ilorin Monday that the attack on the secretariat, especially the removal of its gigantic sign post preparatory for its commission, remained a warning signal to political actors in the state that the 2015 general polls in the state would not be violence-free.
The party through its local chairman, Suleiman Buhari and the Public Relations Officer, Obasanjo Alashi, said the letter to the police boss was to encourage a prompt investigation into the matter, bring the culprits to book and to prevent a recurrence of the incident.
The petition dated January 12, 2013 and titled "Security alarm over wilful and brazen destruction of property belonging to the CPC", said the development remained a reminder of the dark days of the nation's democracy.
